Procrastination Weekly Challenge #5: Plan Your Day In Advance

WeeklyChallenge

DISCLAIMER: I eventually do get done what needs to get done… most of the time..

However, I generally remember these tasks as I go through my daily routines. I try to store my “to-do list” in the back of my mind, pray that I will remember it, and will try to do it at a  time I deem more appropriate to carry out the task.  Is this the most efficient way to accomplish what needs to be done? Absolutely NOT!

Now imagine I spent this week writing out a schedule for everything that I plan on doing the night before each day. How much time will I save!!! So this week, let’s write up a detailed schedule for everything you need to accomplish. Set reminders to your phone, write sticky notes, do whatever you need to do to help remind you along the way. This week we are going to be efficient with time. Lets not waste a very valuable gift to us; TIME.

Weekend Round-Up for 6/17-6/23

WeekendRoundupWEB

Three weeks down, how many more to go? Who knows? As long as we can keep bringing you easy, delicious recipes, useful, simple tips, and the comics that go with them, maybe we can go on forever. Or at least a long time.

Have you tried any of the six recipes that we’ve posted so far. I have, and they were great! Have you started utilizing any of our savings tips? Hope so!

I did well with this past week’s Weekly Challenge. I used a list every time I went shopping. At first, I didn’t think it was even necessary to mention using lists as one of our tips. It seemed so obvious. Then I was talking to a cousin of mind, a rather bright, educated attorney. She was complaining that every time she went into a store she ended up buying more than she expected to buy, more than she needed to buy, and spending ridiculously more than she should have spent. When I asked this supposedly intelligent woman if she uses a list when she shops, she said, “No, but I know I really should.”

I figured, if this woman doesn’t “list it”, she’s probably not alone. That’s when I realized that making lists would make a good “Weekly Challenge”. Although this “Weekly Challenge” is over, please keep making lists and please stick to them!

Tomorrow we will see what this coming week’s savings challenge will be.

In case you missed it, here were some of our top posts of the past week. (You can either click on them, or scroll down and review all of our past posts.)

Weekly Challenge #3: List it and STICK TO IT!

WeeklyChallenge

A new weekly challenge will be revealed on Mondays. This month’s challenges will be devoted to Savings.

***

Why is it whenever you go into the store you never end up getting just the items that you needed?  You know exactly what I’m talking about! Those times when you go in to buy bread and milk and you somehow manage to leave with a cart filled to the brim with those Oreo Cookies that are on sale, and the “buy one get one free” cereal boxes, and your favorite chocolate minis, amongst other stuff. It’s like you’re going into battle but you get ambushed by everything around you. To avoid splurging on unnecessary items, before you walk out that door, write down exactly what you need. Think of what you might be cooking this week, what you are missing, and create that shopping list. Do your research before doing the list.  Check circulars and coupons.  Consult with family members. That way, when you go out to battle, you’ll have your defense safely in hand.

By creating a clear, complete, all inclusive list, you will hopefully limit your trips to the supermarket to just one trip per week. You will eliminate impulse buying and save money.

This week,  WE ARE LISTING IT!
